Larrie King joined the faulty of the School of Visual Communication Design in 2014 after graduating from the program with an MFA. He also holds a BFA and an MA in design from Northwestern State University, where he taught in the design program prior to attending Kent State. Originally from Louisiana, Larrie’s creative career began in fine art. Along with teaching and practicing as a freelance designer over the years, he has also exhibited work as a painter and illustrator.

Larrie’s areas of expertise include print design, identity development and branding design, and research. He recently presented research from his graduate studies at the 9th Annual International Design Principles and Practiced Conference, and continues to work with global organizations like Lifewater International.

As Creative Director of the award-winning Glyphix Studio, Larrie works closely with the School of VCD’s top performing students, guiding them to create design solutions for organizations like The Veale Foundation, Portage Parks District, Schneller, and Kent State University. He also serves as the school’s internship coordinator, forging relationships with local and regional studios and business owners who provide our students with competitive internship and employment opportunities.
