CCI Commons Website: A living-learning community at Kent State University

The main goal of the redesign was to portray the energetic and collaborative atmosphere that CCI Commons creates for Kent State University students. The new site emphasizes these qualities through spirited photography, colorful typography, and dynamic layouts. The redesign also carried over to mobile and desktop applications. As a result of the website’s revamp, new students interested in CCI Commons have access to a great resource that helps them find information and gain personal perspectives.

IdeaBase worked in collaboration with Chris Hallahan, an interactive Web designer and developer with Kent State’s University Communications and Marketing department. This is one of several projects that IdeaBase collaborated on with UCM. This relationship allows Glyphix and IdeaBase to ensure that their work is in line with the university’s brand standards and provides students with an insight into the in-house design atmosphere.

The College of Communication and Information Commons website was an extremely rewarding project for the individuals involved with its redesign. The lead designer met with CCI Commons Director Marianne Warzinkski to develop a deeper insight and overall vision for the new CCI Commons website. After speaking with Warzinkski, the students researched living and learning communities at other colleges and universities to determine how the site could stand apart. From there, the designers were trusted by the client to go to work with their creative freedom and create a website that is truly outstanding. The finished site design was recognized with a gold ADDY at the 2014 Akron ADDY Awards.
